Great job on your first reflection but I am shocked you did not include highlights of your first day...driving your boss to the emergency room with a shattered wrist. I know I will never forget that day!

AmeriCorps positions are a bit unique so while it seems like I should have an easy answer to your question, the real answer is "it depends".

All for of these positions are 450 hour positions with the option of moving into a 900 hour position in the fall. The stipend is $3,000 and is paid bi-weekly over the contract term plus an education grant at the completion of the grant assuming the individual successfully completes the term of service. I can not remember the amount of a quarter time education grant but I think it is just over $1,000. The contract term begins at the person's start date which can be anytime between May 1st and June 15th but all contracts will end August 31st.

So....as you can see; it depends on when the person starts. I am ready to fill all four positions asap so please have anyone who may be interested contact me immediately.

I think in one of your older posts, something was mentioned (or in a comment?) about the event yesterday from Richmond Habitat for Humanity?

"Building on Faith" Affordable Housing Summit - Thursday, April 16, 2009 - 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM (ET)
Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity (RMHFH) has been the grateful beneficiary of the commitment of the faith community for the past 23 years. RMHFH hopes to strengthen our faith partnerships through sharing knowledge and accessing area experts’ input regarding the new housing arena, and the challenges faced by low to moderately low income earners in Central Virginia. Faith leaders of the jurisdictions we serve are encouraged to participate in this summit to garner heightened awareness of affordable housing challenges and opportunities. RMHFH serves: the City of Richmond, and the counties of Amelia, Charles City, Chesterfield, Henrico and New Kent.

RMHFH was founded on the principles of the Christian religion. However, we support the “Theology of the Hammer”, or a community development process that engages peoples of all faiths, races, and ethnicities through volunteer service, Board of Directors membership, staffing, and client families. RMHFH has built and financed over 280 homes since 1986. We are also the largest non-profit housing provider of low to moderately-low income homeowner-occupied housing in the area. Please join us to hear the Mayor’s perspective both as a pastor and founder of Community Development Corporations in regards to the faith community’s role and responsibility.

Special Topics by panel experts:

    * Affordable Housing Awareness – Laura Lafayette, President and CEO of the Richmond Realtors Association; RMHFH Board of Directors
    * Regional Collaboration of Nonprofit Housing Providers - Lee Householder, President of the Richmond Regional Community Development Alliance and Executive Director of ElderHomes
    * Theology of the Hammer as an Expression of Faith – Rev. Dr. Gordon Mapes, Pastor of the Brandermill Church, the largest Union Church in the United States
    * Faith Communities Participating in Affordable Housing - Dr. Imad Damaj, President of the Virginia Muslim Coalition; RMHFH Board of Directors
    * RMHFH’s Refreshed and Renewed Approach to Affordable Development – Leisha LaRiviere, Executive Director, RMHFH

I think that the article was alright, but I think that Rudy smoked his first joint at the age of 13. But that's neither here nor there. But, what's that on his neck? It's just a testimony to what God will do for those who choose to use the gifts that he gave them. What happened to Rudy can happen to anyone who believes.
